I go in the forest almost every day. When looking for solution for trading system, I have two options. Sit in front of the chart and run test after test. Or to go the forest and figure out the solution while I move freely in the nature. I always chose the second option. That being said, I'm well adjusted to movement in the nature.
Recently I have spent two weeks in the mountains.
Soon I realised that my forest trekking pace will not do in the mountains. The pace that works on relatively flat surface will not work when you have to walk uphill for 4 hours straight.
I made a conscious change of my walking pace. This small change removed any need for breaks. The same distance was walked with less effort and more enjoyment.
Surprisingly, slowing down my pace also shortened completion time as I didn't need any breaks to catch my breath.
Mountains will give you nothing for free - price must be always paid for everything that you want to see and experience. Mountains also do not forgive. Same as forex . Let's look at what slowing down the pace did for me in the mountains:
Same completion time.
Less effort necessary.
Less tired after completing the same journey.
Less frequent breaks.
How to apply this principle on forex trading
Most of the forex traders will push as hard as they can for as long as they can. Trade longer, trade more frequent and more aggressive. As the result they get exhausted, clingy and greedy. They always crash and burn.
The remedy is simple.
Slow down everything you do in trading. Relax.
This might sound counterintuitive, but it is necessary to realise that there is no benefit to push the pace. Slow down you pace and enjoy the process. Rushing will not get you to your goals sooner. When trading forex, prepare for the long walk uphill. If you choose the wrong pace, you will never reach the top of the mountain.
