After decade of sitting in front of the computer for a living. I developed some side effects. My trapeze muscle was in constant pain. It got to the point, that my girlfriend had to massage my back standing on it.
She was walking on my back 45 minutes. Helped only a little bit..
No matter what I did in the gym, how much I tried to overcompensate. Next morning I had to be in front of the computer again, holding the mouse again and pain would return.
I started dreading mornings. I stopped enjoying my craft.
All of this happened while I was aware of the dangers of sitting and necessity of movement in human biology. Since I was teenager I always trained. Every day I walked and lived an active lifestyle.
In Croatia it got so bad, that only time I wasnt in pain was when I was working out.
Still, I was sitting more, that I could ever train.
On the days I avoided computer, I went to sleep just fine. Pain free. But by avoiding computer, I also avoided my work. I couldn't do it forever.
I had two options.
A: Do something about it.
B: Choose some type manual labor as my new career.
As it usually happens, when man searches for a solution to his problem he eventually finds it.
The standing desk
At first, it was unpleasant to stand in front of the computer. Especially after hard leg day in the gym. It took few weeks to get used to it.
But the constant pain in my trap muscle was gone, from day one.
And I noticed few more things.
It is much easier to focus on the work. Standing reminds you, that you are there to do the job. Not to play around. As result, you will be able to accomplish more in shorter time.
Brain fog is diminished.
My brain used to get tired just before the lunch. Now I am just as focused as in the morning. I noticed that lot of perceived tiredness was actually caused by body simply refusing to sit anymore.
Posture has been something I have been focusing on, for the last two years. I work on it consciously. Having standing desk improved my posture even further.
Science behind standing desk
Our bodies are made to move. Sedentary lifestyle is detrimental to all the aspects of human biology. Avoiding it will simply make you more productive and happier. It will make you do more and faster, while enjoying it. It will also remove chronic pain caused by sitting (as it did in my case).
If you choose forex trading as your career. Computer will become your job. If you have to be in front of it, avoid sitting.
If you can, avoid it completely. Get the robot trading for you, or invest in live traders that are already making money.
